Rewires, consumer units, circuits and lighting for Mitcham houses and flats, usually alongside building work.
We carry out electrical work across Mitcham and CR4, mostly as part of extensions, lofts and renovations. Inter-war and post-war houses that haven’t been rewired in decades often have circuits that were added to piece by piece. When the house is opened up for building work, it is the best time to check what you have and bring it up to date.
A new extension, loft or garden room adds circuits that an older consumer unit may not have the space or protection for. We check the board and the incoming supply at the start, so upgrades are planned in rather than discovered halfway through.
We rewire, fit consumer units, run new circuits, add sockets and outdoor power, and plan lighting. Anything notifiable under the building regulations is tested, certified and reported to building control.
Covers: Rewires, consumer units, circuits, lighting
Common here: Extension, loft and garden circuits
Outdoor: External sockets and lighting
Covered: CR4, plus SW16 around Pollards Hill and Longthornton
Planned with the building work wherever possible.
In an inter-war semi, the original wiring has often been replaced already, but later additions such as an extension or garage circuit may have been tacked on without much planning. During a renovation we trace each circuit, remove anything unsafe and leave the consumer unit clearly labelled.
Houses on post-war estates such as Eastfields and Pollards Hill often have concrete ground floors, so new cables there run in the walls or ceiling voids rather than under floorboards. We plan routes that keep chasing and making good to a minimum.
Existing installation and supply inspected.
Circuits, sockets and lighting agreed with you.
Cables run while walls and floors are open, fittings added at the end.
Tested, certified and notified.
Sometimes. If it has spare ways and modern protection, possibly. Older boards usually need replacing to take new circuits safely.
Yes. We fit weatherproof sockets with the right protection, on a new or existing circuit.
With a dedicated circuit, usually an armoured cable buried at a safe depth from the house, with protection at the consumer unit.
Not always. An inspection will show whether it is sound, and often a new consumer unit and some extra circuits are enough.
Notifiable work is tested and certified by the installer and notified to building control, and you receive the certificates for your records.
Electrical is one of ten building services we offer across Mitcham and CR4. If your project needs more than one, we run them as a single job.
